French Bread Pizza

I was feeling tired from all my Pinterest pinning the other day (I can do it for hours I swear) and I really wanted something easy to make. So I found a few inspirations and put together my own French bread pizza. It was super easy and fairly inexpensive.

Ingredients:

  • French Bread – Sliced in half
  • Butter
  • 3/4 cup Marinara Sauce
  • 5 Salami Slices
  • 2 cups Mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup Black Olives – sliced

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Take your cookie sheet, or baking pan, and line it with foil for an easy cleanup after cooking. Cut the French bread in half and butter it. Sounds odd but I found if you don’t butter it, the bread gets sort of soggy with the marinara sauce. Put half the marinara on each piece of bread. Then layer cheese, olives & salami. Bake for 10-15 minutes. And you are complete!

Now you can mix whatever toppings you want. I have a friend who loves a veggie pizza add sausage and that sounds yummy also. Just cheese or just veggies. Or whatever you have hanging around the fridge that you want to use up and not let it go to waste.

And I said this was a frugal meal and it was. It cost me about $5 for the whole thing. So about the same if I went to a local pizza franchise and grabbed something. But the fact that I made what I wanted, with what I had on hand and I know exactly what is in my food makes me feel like this was the much better route. Plus I could make it while wearing my pj’s. And that makes me a happy wife! Dare I say a happy Modern Wife?!?

So make this part of your meal for this week and post your pictures here, on my facebook page or on my twitter feed & let me know your way to variate this. To link up to this, you can follow all of them at the upper right hand corner of the page here. I want to see your creativity with food!
